speed basic
Human nature has always had a fascination with speed, one that's as strong as ever today. From the cars we drive to the sports we love, the faster they are, the more it seems to garner our attention. When it comes to the world of athletics, those who are fastest still typically has the greatest advantage, regardless of the complexity of the sport. Think about it: in what sport is speed not eminently useful? Generally speaking, the faster you are, the better you are. "It migth sound cliche', but speed kills," said dale boring, founder and director of Get Fast Camps (getfasttraining.com). " I have seen football games with two good teams, but if one is significantly faster than the other, there's no way to be in position to make the tackle if you can't catch someone." Fortunately, today's athletes who want to increase performance by becoming swifter of foot don't need to make sacrifices to the gods. There are some easier and conventional ways to make yourself faster, and consequently, more effective in your sport. "Anybody can get faster; it's not just a genetic pre-assigment," said guy montalvo, a long time high-school football and track coach who hosts an annual summer speed camp. "We know heredity can leave some people with more white-twitch muscle (associated with speed and quickness) and others with red-twitch (best for oxygenation and endurance), but I know for a fact, you can improve on both, you certainly can make yourself faster."
